Who are we?
Who are we?
The NZBCA is an association of New Zealand based locally owned, independent, small-medium or niche consultancies. Our network includes 90 consultancies who together lead over 1000 consultants.
The NZBCA supports three different levels of consultants:
Emerging Practices – for those just starting out typically in the first year or two
Consultancy Builders – for established consultants or very small firms (with up to 2 partners)
Leaders and Organisations – for those who have already scaled and are leading teams
We provide networking and partnership opportunities, advisory services, consultancy-focused education through webinars and our knowledge base and advocates for the boutique sector with government and industry.
The NZBCA was set up in September 2024 and we have brought together consultants from across New Zealand, including hosting events in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Our monthly webinars are an opportunity for members to present to peers and gain valuable personal insights in a variety of topics related to the consulting industry.
From targeted matching of members to small coffee catchups, lunches or evening events we offer a range of venues, at different times of the day in the three major cities in New Zealand. Always looking to broaden our membership - the people and the places of Aotearoa.

The New Zealand Boutique Consultancy Association (NZBCA) was founded to advance its members' interests by fostering collaboration and connection, and by advocating for the sector.
For too long, the consulting industry has been dominated by large firms, often overshadowing the exceptional value that independent boutique consultancies in New Zealand provide.
Boutiques are in the right place at the right time. In New Zealand, the Government and wider industry are are making moves to remove the barriers for SMEs in the procurement process and the tendency to just go with the old names.
We believe the New Zealand economy and business sector would greatly benefit from embracing the growing and highly capable small and medium consultancy sector. This sector offers a more cost-effective, flexible and ethical alternative.
